Prunes, oatmeal, and more prunes

If you know anything about Brynley, you know that she LOVES to eat.  And not just specific foods....fruits and vegetables of all kinds. At this point that is pretty much all we have introduced.  Of course she has her favorites: peas, peaches and plums. We started a morning regimen of oatmeal and fruits in an effort to help with her regularity. I will spare all the details as Brynley will be older one day and not appreciate it so much.

I have never been comfortable with the over-use of modern medicine to treat ailments.  I much prefer a more holistic natural remedy on a regular basis. Of course I am not completely opposed to it, many a times I have had to resort to Tylenol for uncontrollable fussiness with teething or a fever.

So we tried some new oatmeal with an oat blend of barley and flaxseed. Fancy? Yes. A little more expensive? Yes. Works? YES.

And she loves it.  As I said before, she is all about feeding herself these days. So entertaining to watch. However, inevitably a good majority of it misses her mouth so she resorts to using her fingers. My trick, as of late, is to give her a spoon to feed herself and I keep a spoon to feed her in between her "bites". As you can see, she got smart and stole my spoon too.

In addition to oatmeal I tried prunes. And not just any prunes, "cherry" flavored prunes.  They are pretty yummy. She gobbled them down the first two times I gave them to her, but by day three she was a little opposed to the texture. She would put it in her mouth, wrinkle up her nose and then push it out ever-so-gently with her tongue in disgust.

I tried them for breakfast which was a no go so we tried again for lunch. As you can clearly see, she ate everything around them and then played with them by squishing them with mommy's mascara. Such a fun and entertaining little game. For the record, she did eventually eat a few of them, the rest ended up on her lap. :)

Finally a beautifully clear shot of her growing teeth. I love that gap.

Yes, those are still the balloons hanging from her chair from her first birthday.  She still squeals at them!

Such delight in simple things....

Praise God.
