Our flight left out of Tulsa at 6 am. Yes, I said that right. However, it turned out to be a blessing in disguise because the flight was not very full so we could bring her car seat on and Brynley slept for 2.5 of the 3 hours.
"Airpane!!!!"
When we arrived to LAX we went to get our rental car and then straight to get some breakfast since it was only 7:30 am. We always have to get a breakfast burrito from Los Alisanes when we are in town....ahh-mazing!
Since we were right around the corner we stopped by the house mommy grew up in to see Grandpa Eddie and great grandad and grammy. Jeremy learned how to pick oranges from the tree so we could make some fresh squeezed orange juice. It's a science ya know.
Brynley tried her hardest to reach them but wasn't quite tall enough. It was cute watching her try.
Jeremy was absolutely amazed that we had this huge orange tree in our backyard growing up. The old saying is true in this case, you don't really appreciate things until they are gone. My memories are mostly rotten oranges laying on the ground under a huge overgrown tree. I was too scared of spiders to even mess around that area. However, I do have some fond memories of finding a good orange within reach and devouring it in minutes or making orange juice on Saturday or Sunday morning before chores. My favorite though was the lemon tree in the corner, sadly it is gone now.
Now I find so much beauty in this orange tree I looked at every day growing up. I couldn't take enough pictures to capture the memories I wanted to keep for ourselves and Brynley. Oh what I would do if I had an orange tree in my backyard now.
I believe my grandad is 80 something years old and just as strong and fit as ever. God spared him after having a quadruple bipass years ago and now he is the picture of healthy eating and activity. What an amazing example he is.
He about scared me to death leaning that ladder on a tree.
Jeremy had to be introduced to the art of making fresh squeezed orange juice, just the way Eddie did when he was a child, and I did when I was a child, and now the grandkids.
Yes. That is a vintage juicer, waaaay older than me.
Bryn stealing a few to eat.
The first time Jeremy has ever seen a blimp. The goodyear blimp at that!
Mandy and the two youngest came to hang out while Danica was at school. My beautiful Makayden, so photogenic.
Unfortunately Bryn wouldn't cooperate for a picture with her great grandparents. She was worn out from all the traveling and orange picking.
I just love the pictures you get of kids when you are attempting to get a "good one". They just show the true spirit of a child.
Priceless.
What a fun filled first day in California. Tomorrow is graduation day for my little brother. Can't wait!
